The work of COICA is framed as its international indigenous organism, whose objectives, they are the following ones:
   

To promote, to develop and to impel the necessary mechanisms for the interactionof the Indigenous people and them organizations members of COICA.
 
To defend the territorial vindications, the self-determination of the Indigenous people and the respect to the human rights of its members.
 
To coordinate with the organizations members, front the diverse intergovernmental instances and nongovernmental organizations of international level, the different actions within the Amazonian Basin.
 
To fortify the unit and the mutual collaboration between all the Indigenous People of the region.
 
To promote the revaluation and cultural vindication of its members.
