MEETING ON TOWNS IN VOLUNTARY ASLAMIENTO

The Association Interétnica de Desarrollo of Peruvian forest AIDESEP, from the 11 th to April 12 th 2007 met the international indigenous commission for the protection of the isolated indigenous Nations and initial contacts of the Rainforest and the great chaco organized by the regional Organization FENAMAD member of AIDESEP, as a result of the seminary made in Santa Cruz Bolivia in the month of November of 2006.

There are near 200 indigenous Nations in the amazonic region and the great Chaco in spite of the different demands made by the indigenous Nation regarding to the respect of rights many of the international agreements are not being applied by the local Governments.

The Declaration of Barbados in 1971, the Declaration of UNESCO on ethnocide in 1981 known like the declaration of San Jose, the resolution of the World-wide Congress of Conservation of UICN in Bangkok in 2004.

The report of Indigenous Matters in 2005, the American Declaration on the rights of the indigenous towns o OEA in 2005, the Declaration of Bethlehem in 2005.

Although means a lot, the participation of the Governments, there are still no protection as was mentioned before from the Big Enterprises.

Due to the damage of the Jungle and Ecosystem, the human population is affected by diseases, which nowadays are becoming part of investigations and studies.

The result of the Convention in Lima is the consolidation of a committee, which will pursuit the defence of the Indigenous population. The headquarters will be in the city of Lima . In addition, there will be coordination of all the activities along with the National Organizations & Regional, in the case of COICA, which represents internationally the towns of the Amazonian River basin.
