RESOLUTIONS OF THE MEETING OF THE COORDINATOR OF INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS OF AMAZONIAN RIVER BASIN COICA

 

MANAUS - BRAZIL 07 AND 08 OF JUNE OF 2007

CONSIDERING:

That, the organizations of the indigenous towns reunited in the Monaco hotel of the city of Manaus days 7 and 8 of June of 2007, within the framework of which establishes I articulate 25 in the literal e) of the organic statute of the COICA, referred:

To that, the Council of Coordination - CCC and Directive Advice - CDC of the COICA, in its period of meeting XIX of the CCC and XXV of the CDC of the COICA and according to the subjects of the agenda:

Opening of the meeting done by Egberto Tabo Chipunavi - Coordinating General of the COICA, with the presentation of the participants, Saúl Door Rock of AIDESEP - Peru, Pedro Nuny of CIDOB - Bolivia, Ramiro Macanilla OPIAC - Colombia, Jecinaldo Barbosa Cabral - Coordinating General of COIAB, Rosa Alvarado - Coordinating Vice of the COICA, Haroldo Salazar - Coordinating of Institutional Policies, Environment Diego Coordinating Escobar, members of the directive advice and other indigenous authorities of COIAB, like special guests. Nardo Aloema - President of OIS-Surinam and Ninfa General Coordinating Tividor of ORPIA - Venezuela justifies their absence and endorses the decisions taken in CCC and the CDC by means of a document emitted by these organizations.

The works with a story began on the historical process of the COICA (constitution and main targets), by the honorary guests Valerio Grefa of nationality Kichwa-Ecuador, and Valentin Muiba of Mojeño-Bolivia nationality, and member of CDC with the made activities, as well as the perspective of the COICA was come soon to the report of the General coordinator. One was the subjects agenda established for this meeting and thus the presents emit the present resolution:

They solve:

  • Ratificar the resolution emitted in made Bogota-Colombia 14 and 15 of June of 2006.

  • We reaffirmed the unit of the indigenous towns to guarantee the consolidation of the COICA.
  • To conform a commission integrated by the General Coordinator of the COICA Mr. Egberto Tabo and the following members of the CCC: OPIAC-Colombia, COIAB-Brazil, AIDESEP-Peru and CIDOB-Bolivia, so that they make the managements in fulfillment of the resolution of Bogota in relation to the transference of the resources of the Bottom Trust destined the organizations.
  • That the COICA asks for a meeting in next the 30 days, with the institutions that conform the Amazonian Alliance so that it is analyzed, it discusses and it decides on the coordination policies.
  • The COICA will subscribe agreements with the OTCA and the Amazonian Parliament in the meeting that, on RR. NN., will be carried out in Santa Cruz - Bolivia, days 12 and 13 of July of the this year.
  • The COICA will continue participating actively in the spaces obtained in the international instances (the UN, O.A.S., OTCA, INDIGENOUS BOTTOM, World Bank, I.A.D.B., OMPI, DOG, Tropical Alliance of the Climate, Forests, CBD and Agreement on CC) looking for favorable strategies and policies for the indigenous towns.
  • The COICA, will coordinate with the public institutions, deprived and the Cooperation the International to develop to programs and arranged activities, framed in the Amazonian Indigenous Agenda.
  • The down signatory ones demand to the Governments and international instances the respect to the human rights, the life, security and the territories of the indigenous towns of the amazonian river basin.
