Just having arrived from a long meeting held in Bonn – Germany , we bring you the topics discussed during the Ninth Conference of the Parties (COP-9) for the Convention on Biological Diversity. Over the course of the week, we will be publishing information on our website www.coica.org.ec .

We are very proud to announce that the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity, has more than 100 participants of Indigenous peoples and local communities from all over the world. Mr. Chairperson, the vast majority of our Forum is able to participate through our own fundraising efforts and the generosity of both private and government donations

On behalf of the indigenous caucus of the Abya Yala ( America ), we would like to express our concerns regarding the adopted recommendations related to the central theme of the Seventh Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

After a series of deliberations among Presidents and Territories Leaders of the following organizations members: AIDESEP- Perú; OPIAC-COLOMBIA COIAB- Brazil; CONFENAE- Ecuator; ORPIA-VENEZUELA; OIS- Suriname; CIDOB-BOLIVIA and with justified absenceof APA - Guyana; And, FOAG- French Guiana were deliberated the next resolutions

The Council of Coordination - CC and the Directive Council of COICA, gathered in the COICA Office, located at Calle Sevilla N24-358 and Guipúzcoa, Quito- Ecuador; the General Coordinator of COICA in their greeting of his functions and attributions established in article 25, literals (d); and, (e) the Current Statute of the Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin – COICA; has called an extraordinary meeting of the CC and CD of COICA for the 28 and 29 of February, 2008, with the following agenda
